One of the most active drug rings on the island of Ibiza in the Balearic islands, has been broken.
Twenty five people have been arrested and 20 of them are British. The Serious and Organised Crime Squad and the Guardia Civil were both involved in the arrests.
Twelve houses were searched and large quantities of drugs and cash were found.T%he investigation began last September when the police cracked another drug ring on the island.
Using information from those arrests led to the arrest of this gang. The people in this gang have been under surveillance for some time. The big bosses from the UK visited the island very regularly.Luxury villas and apartments were rented for those involved at the different levels of the organisation.
Young British tourists were used to carry drugs through in their luggage. In August a young British woman was caught carrying 3kilos of cocaine.
This is a lucrative business and unless the big bosses have been arrested then it will just continue and grow.People seem prepared to take the risk.
