Alicante council has made its second 200 euro fine against people who permit their dogs to foul pavements,in one week. The councils special team of local police and inspectors is targeting zones where the fouling of pavements with dog excrement is deemed out of control. The special unit is actually filming the people who allow their animals to defaecate on the pavements,as evidence. They then issue the fines.
The clearing of dog excrement by the council is costing about a million euros a year and this has to stop.It only involves about 5% of the dog owning population but it now requires drastic measures to remedy it .On top of this there is the 200,000 euro bill for installing and maintaining the plastic bag dispensers that have been set up all over the city.Consequently the motto is that whoever decides to make the city dirty will pay to have it cleanrd. The council is also providing special areas where owners can take their animals to the toilet They will be clearly signposted. How it can be beyond an individual to carry a plastic bag with them to pick up their animal’s excrement is beyond comprehension.Keep fining them Alicante .The risk of disease is also another major consideration to consider for the Alicante council.

Many in a certain part of Alicante feared that a bomb had gone off last Tuesday eveningwhen a huge explosion rocked an apartment block. What had happened was that a hut which is used by workmen who are building the AVE high speed rail link into Alicante, had exploded and caused the authorities to halt rail traffic as fire crews battled with the flames.
It is now thought that children set fire to scrubland in an area near the railway line and that this fire engulfed the hut in which there were containers of flammable fuel. The smoke from the explosion could be seen all over the city and initial reactions were to suspect a bomb.Rail traffic was suspended for almost two hours as firefighters not only tried to put out the burning fuels but also the scrubland.
Residents said that their apartment blocks shook with the blast and many thought that it was a bomb and that they would be evacuated from the zone.Once they knew that the likely cause was children playing, unsupervised ,with fireworks, then the situation calmed down.During fiestas many parents still allow their children access to fireworks without supervision .
